Mineral water A9, the first bottled in a box in Brazil, reinforces its commitment to sustainability
The official water of the 2022 São Paulo Grand Prix is A9, the first mineral water in Brazil packaged in a Tetra Pak paper box with a resealable cap. A9 was chosen for its unique qualities in the country. The water is 100% natural, alkaline, and contains rare minerals, all while being packaged in a renewable container, which is part of the sustainability initiatives that are pillars of the new Formula One.
“This is the second consecutive year that A9 is the official water of the São Paulo GP. The event gives our brand enormous visibility and connects us with the appeal of pioneering spirit, innovation, and sustainability that unites people worldwide,” says José Luiz Franzotti, CEO of Poty Cia de Bebidas, the company that produces A9.
The race will take place on Sunday, November 13th, at Interlagos, São Paulo, but A9 is already present at the racetrack throughout the week during qualifying sessions and the Saturday Sprint race. The water is distributed free of charge to drivers, team staff, and event production crews, as well as invited guests in hospitality areas and is also exclusively available for sale in the stands. The event organizers will arrange for the collection and subsequent recycling of A9 packaging.
The São Paulo Grand Prix follows the new guidelines of Formula 1, where all World Championship GPs must adhere to environmental regulations, including carbon emission offset and the elimination of plastic at racetracks, with a deadline set for 2030. The São Paulo GP has advanced its schedule and aims to eliminate plastic by 2025, establishing a cycle of collection, recycling, and social use of collected material.
About A9
Unlike more common waters on the market, A9 is naturally alkaline, with a pH of 9.38, and it contains minerals that contribute to the proper functioning of the body, such as vanadium. The water is sourced directly from the spring and bottled by Poty Cia de Bebidas, located in Potirendaba, São Paulo.
The Tetra Pak packaging is recyclable and primarily made from renewable materials. After use, the carton can be directed for recycling, giving rise to new products such as pallets, roofing tiles, chairs, placemats, bags, and notebooks.
